Annual Convention 2011
Annual Convention and AGM 5th November 2011
The 2011 Annual Convention & AGM was once again held at the Northampton Hilton hotel. For the adults we followed the usual successful format of breaking into condition groups for lectures, discussions and networking sessions; you will find more details on these throughout the newsletter.
We owe a big “thank you” to all the health professionals who gave up their Saturdays to be with us.
Our youth group enjoyed a very busy day courtesy of Graeme Wilson - Northamptonshire Sport Disability Development Officer. You will find a summary of this below.
We were very grateful to Beverley Pearson from the DWP who spent the day with us; she answered many questions about the various benefits available.
A variety of Growth Hormone Injection devices that are available in the UK were demonstrated throughout the day by Angela Casey and Julia Prior from Birmingham Children’s hospital. Angela and Julia held an invaluable and informal session with the GHD/MPHD group.
Families who stayed at the hotel on Saturday evening had a great time at the disco, which grows in popularity every year.
Throughout the day and evening we ran “fund raising” activities. These included an Auction, Tombola and Raffle and a total just short of £1000 was raised. Thank you to everybody who generously provided the prizes and also to those who spent their money during the day.
The convention grows in popularity every year and the staff, group leaders and trustees work very hard. To continue to hold such a successful event, it would be really helpful if we had a few extra hands to help out on the day with things such as the tombola, selling raffle tickets/Christmas cards etc. If you could give up a few hours on the day to help, we would be extremely grateful. Please contact Jenny as soon as possible for further details.
Once again, the convention was a great success and members went home with a great deal of knowledge and new friends.
